Frequently Asked Question
Do you offer teletherapy?
Yes, I am licensed in the state of New York and can work with those present anywhere in the state at the time of the session.
Do you offer in-office therapy?
Yes, in my Mamaroneck office.
What is insomnia and how do I know if I have it?
Insomnia disorder involves dissatisfaction with your sleep quality or quantity. You may experience difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and/or waking up too early in the morning without being able to return to sleep. If this sounds familiar and you feel like your sleep difficulties also lead to problems during the day, you may want to consult with a mental health professional who specializes in the treatment of insomnia.
How can you help me with my insomnia?
In most cases, I use CBT-I (cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia). This is a short-term, evidence-based, highly effective treatment of insomnia. Thanks to its efficacy, it is considered the first-line of therapy for chronic insomnia.
Do you treat other sleep problems?
I treat a number of sleep problems that can respond to behavioral interventions, including circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders, nightmare disorder, dependence on sleeping pills (in collaboration with the prescribing physician), and difficulties using CPAP treatment.
In addition to sleep disorders, I also provider individual therapy to those experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and other concerns. I use an integrative approach: I believe there is value in understanding past events and their lingering effect, while also examining current experiences, relationships, thoughts, and behaviors. This approach can lead to an increase in self-awareness and knowledge, new and improved coping skills, and lasting change.
